Carole S. Griffiths, a research associate at the American Museum of Natural History and an associate professor at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, and writer Devin Griffiths describe 11 excellent birdwatching destinations just a short drive from the world-famous hawkwatches at Cardel and Chichicaxtle, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. The authors describe La Mancha Biological Station, Macuiltepetl Ecological Park, Las Minas, the vast Alvarado wetlands, the Sierra de los Tuxtlas, Lake Catemaco, and other hotspots.
