Guidebook author Diana Doyle describes her experiences and lessons learned during a year of green birding -- that is, birdwatching without driving, carpooling, or otherwise using fuel. In 2008, the year of Doyle's Big Green Birding Year, or BGBY, she found 210 species within walking or biking distance of her home in Minneapolis. Doyle also provides 10 tips for a successful BGBY.
